asked questions...

How accurate is the polygraph?
If a qualified and experienced examiner performs the test using accredited techniques and the latest computerised equipment a 98% accuracy is achieved. The result is according to research performed by the American Polygraph Association.
How long does it take?
The process consists of three phases:
1. The pre-test interview
2. The Test
3. The post-test interview
The total time is between 2 - 3 hours.
Where are the tests conducted?
Tests can be arranged at a location near you. At your venue be it your home, office or we can arrange premises. To conduct the test we need a quiet and private room without disturbances.
How does it work?
By continuously recording changes in the body reflected on a computerised graph from start to completion of every test. The test is run three times asking the same questions; each test takes about 4 - 5 minutes.
-
Cardiosyphymograph (Is similar to a blood pressure cuff). This measures changes in the heart rate and blood-volume.
- Electrodermo Plates are attached to the index and ring finger. This measures changes in galvanic skin response (sweat activity).
- Pnuemograph measures any changes in the breathing pattern. This consists of two rubber tubes placed around the chest and abdomen.
All these procedures are totally safe although the cuff can be slightly uncomfortable. The measured responses are caused by the autonomic nervous system that cannot be controlled by the conscious mind of the examinee. The components and method of measuring the changes in the human body have been developed over the last 130 years by scientists. The polygraph has been constantly improved to the computerised system we are currently using.
When do I get the result?
The written result is issued the day following the test.
What if a person is very nervous?
Most people are nervous when taking the test. This does not affect the polygraph because we set the sensitivity of the computer for each individual and then assess the changes in responses. This also applies to individuals sweat activity, heart rate and breathing.
How do medicines and drugs affect the test?
We have a computer based information system that advises us of the effects of different medicines or drugs. This will be taken into consideration when we set up the computer and assess the test charts.
Can the test be beaten?
No. The examiner will assess the examinee during the pre-test and will only proceed to test the examinee if they are fit to be tested. During the test the examiner will monitor the behaviour and movement of the examinee if it is found that the examinee is not following the examiner's instructions then counter-measures are suspected. These are typical of a guilty person.
How do I pay?
Payment can be made by cash, online bank transfers or credit/debit card. A deposit is payable on confirmation of a booking and the balance is paid on the day of the test. Refer to disclosure page.
